Known as Korea’s Robin Hood, Honggildong (Hong Gil-dong) is a mythical hero during the Joseon dynasty and appears as the main protagonist in Heo Gyun’s 500-year old novel, ‘Tale of Honggildong’. The novel has already inspired a movie and TV series and is now taking form as a musical.
The musical will have grittier characters and fantastic stage setting, focusing more on the dramatic elements to the story. Popular Korean teen idol group, Super Junior’s Ye-seong and Seong-min, will take the role of Hong Gil-dong for this production.
The musical was produced by Seoul Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Kim Seung-won, and will be playing at the Woori Art Hall from February 18th to April 18th.
